Sadhanaa Meaning
Every human being constantly strives to attain happiness. He tries to acquire happiness through worldly pleasures and science; however, this happiness is not permanent because it is a part of Maya (The Great Illusion). Every happiness in Maya finally has an end. The happiness which is of the highest form and permanent is known as Anand (Bliss). In this universe, there is only one source of eternal flow of Anand and it is none other than the ‘Eternal Principle’. Hence, as you make efforts to merge with the Eternal Self, you begin to experience the sweetness of Anand. What is sadhana can be stated as making efforts to merge with the Eternal Self is itself called sadhana.
Sadhana is the process of achieving the goal of Self-realisation easily.
Sadhana is a beautiful blend of efforts in the form of action and thoughts about Sat (Absolute Truth). (Self Stabilization)
Getting rid of all these layers of Karma arround Soul, steadying in the basic soul Principle and merging it into the form of Paramatma (Supreme soul) is known as sadhana’. (Self Actualization)
Why only Sadhanaa can do this?
In the life of an average individual, 20% of problems take place due to physical and/or psychological reasons. Another 30% are due to spiritual as well as physical and/or psychological reasons. The remaining 50% are only spiritual in origin. Since science cannot overcome these spiritual causes, obviously it also cannot overcome the unhappiness arising from them. The spiritual causes of unhappiness can be overcome only with the help of sadhana. Research conducted in the west has proved that sadhana helps in curing many physical and psychological illnesses. Sadhana also bestows man with the strength to endure unhappiness. Besides, it also helps in the development of Divine virtues like faith, sacrifice, and courage in a seeker, making his life ideal and complete. This means that by performing sadhana, 80% of problems can be resolved or the ability to endure them can be acquired.

Samavasarana is the word of Prakrit language. It has many deep meanings such as
1. shelter to all, (the intense feeling of saving all the living beings from all the suuferings, pains and miseries)
2. the place where people attain enlightenment and perfect knowledge,
3. the place where all the living beings are given equal status.
Samavsaran is an architecture designed for the Preachings of Teerthankar
Samavsaran is an architecture engineered by “DEVTA” celestial beings arriving on earth to listen to the divine preachings of Teerthankar. This architecture has a throne in the middle on which Teerthankar sit and preach the universal truths to the audience sitting there in Samavsaran.
Samavsaran is the divine place of discourse organized with divine attributes of convenience in listening and comfort with amenity for all living beings including animals and celestial beings to come and receive shelter from the worldly sufferings, attend the discourse and perceive Teerthankara’s divine dictums.
Hundreds of devotees accept asceticism. Thousands of devotees accept discipleship as householders. Lacs of other new-comers as well as crores of Devee, Devtã, Tiryanch (animals) and Manushya (humans) realize the universal truth and devote themselves to Spiritualism in Samavsaran
The shape of samavasarana is either round or even square. It is of 1 yojan (presently counted as 12km. approximately).
This immensely beautiful development is done so that all can receive shelter from the worldly sufferings and perceive Teerthankara’s divine dictum (the only path of eternal liberty i.e. Moksha).
1. The Vayukumaras (The God of wind) themselves, clean the surface of the earth for one yojana, clear the ground from all the stones, pebbles, thorns, etc. The Meghakumaras sprinkle the earth with fragrant water.
2. The Vyantaras cover the surface of the earth with shining mosaics of gold and jewels making the three storeyed platforms.
3. First floor: Out of the three floors of Samavsaran the first one is prepared by Bhavanpati devtã. They prepare it by silver and decorate the borders by gold. To reach this floor there are 10,000 steps from the ground in each four directions. Each step is approximately one hand in width and one hand in height. In the four directions they creat arches of jewels, rubies, and gold. On top of them tall puppets are placed and flags shine in their arms. Below the arches eight auspicious signs, svastika, etc., are well placed. Total, there are four doors in four directions, eight dwarpals (two at each door), 40,000 steps And here humans and Devtã keep their vehicles.
4.Second floor: This floor is made by Jyotish devtã (the gods of Sun, Moon etc.). This floor is made up of gold and borders are decorated with jewels. To reach this floor there are 5,000 steps each in four directions and has four doors in four directions. At the doors of this floor there are 2 Devees at each door. In four corners of this floor there are speacial arrangement for the Devee Devtã to be seated. In this floor birds and animals all sit together forgetting about their enmity. Cat and rat, lion and goat all sit together and go spellbound by the words of the lord. Such is the specialty of this floor.
5. Third floor: This floor is prepared by Vaiyamanik devta. They prepare this floor with jewels and decorate its borders with Mani. To reach this floor there are 5,000 steps each in four directions. At the four doors, Vaimanik Devtã stand in the form of dwãrpãl. At this floor Devtã who prepare the sabha, Devee, Sãdhu, Sãdhvis Shrãvik and shrãvikãs take their place.
In the midst of the samavasarana, a chaitya-Ashok Tree, about twelve times higher than the height of the Tirthankars is made by the Vyantaras. Beneath it, they make a platform with manifold jewels; on it they made a dais of incomparable gems. In the center of it to the east, they make next a jeweled lion-throne with a foot-stool for the (Arihant) Teerthankar to sit. Above it they make three white umbrellas. On both sides Yaksas stand with two white chãmar, then at the gate of the samavasarana they make a dharmachakra (a wheel with remarkable light). Whatever else require is done by the Vyantaras. They are the functionaries in the case of all samavasarana.
Result of “Teerthankar Naam Karma”
The reason why Samavasarana is organized by Devtã is “Teerthankar-Naamkarma” i.e. the supernal deed with supreme feelings of universal wellness, eternal delight, infinite mercy and ultimate neutrality accomplished by a devotee in the previous third birth which culminates in present birth.
The only supreme auspicious karma of this world is “Teerthankar-Naamkarma”, which is gained by every Teerthankar in previous third birth. It is experienced owing to perfect vision and supermost inclination towards the wellbeing of each and every living-being existing in the infinite space; a devotee gains “Teerthankar-Naamkarma”.
Teerthankar the soul of Samavsaran
All Teerthankar were previously living as common householders; they renunciate at appropriate occasion and observe self-restraint with severe penance, follow flawless conduct, observe complete self-imposed silence in order to actualize Keval Jnãna (absolute knowledge)
After actualizing Keval Jnãna they reveal all universal facts in their discourses. Teerthankar establish the four-fold community i.e. Chaturvidha Sangha viz Sãdhu, Sãdhvee, Shrãvaka and Shrãvikã after which they are known as Teerthankar (the establishers of “teerth the savior”).
Sãdhu and Sãdhvee are male and female ascetics, Shrãvaka and Shrãvikã are male and female householder disciples.
Teerthankar preach the essence of their infinite knowledge completely in the presence of this Chaturvidha Sangha in Samavasarana
